Banquet Planning Meeting – October 1st

29 09 2008

We are getting down to crunch time!  There are only 4 more weeks until the Grundy County DU banquet.  We still need your help in making this event even bigger and better than last year!

The next banquet planning meeting will be on Wednesday, October 1st at 1pm at Maria’s in Morris.  This will be a late lunch meeting.  Anyone who has sold raffle tickets or banquet tickets is asked to bring all money and ticket stubs collected to the meeting.

Hope to see you at the meeting!

Right Around the Corner …

26 09 2008

The Grundy County Corn Festival is a much anticipated event across the county.  We can always count on good music, great food and the chance to reconnect with old friends.  Hopefully you’re enjoying the cool fall nights and taking advantage of all that the Corn Fest has to offer!

Another great thing about Corn Fest is that it means that waterfowl hunting season is just around the corner.  The combines are in the fields and the first groups of birds are flying overhead.  Like us, you’re probably going through your hunting gear and readying it for opening day.  The excitement of the start of the season is only matched by your first hunt!

Grundy County Ducks Unlimited plays a large part in preserving local wetlands that attract birds to our area each season.  We appreciate your past support of our events and look forward to seeing you at the banquet on November 1st.  Who knows…you might even win some great new gear to add to your hunting collection!

Tickets! Tickets! Tickets!

25 09 2008

If you attended the Grundy County DU Banquet last year, you should have already received your invitation to the 2008 banquet in the mail.  Please take a minute this week to fill out the reservation form and send it in to reserve your seat at the banquet.

If you did not receive an invitation and would like to attend the banquet on November 1st, please contact Paul Opyd (Ph. 815-210-5471 /email.  opyd6041@aol.com).

We promise to have lots of auction items, good food and great company at the banquet.  We will also be drawing the winner of our “Big 3 Gun Raffle”!  A limited number of raffle tickets are being sold and they’re going quickly!  Check out all the details on the Gun Raffle page.  This is one raffle you won’t want to miss out on!

Reserve your seat or table today before it sells out!

Would you like to do more for the Ducks?

25 09 2008

A little of your time means a lot! Giving just a few hours each month can make a huge impact on preserving our critical wetland habitat. Make new friends, create new business contacts and help create thousands of acres of new habitat by joining the Grundy County DU Committee.  Join us at our next meeting to become involved!

Have fun and do it for the Ducks!

2007 Illinois Chapter Award Winner!

25 07 2008

The Grundy County chapter of Ducks Unlimited is proud to announce that it has been named a 2007 Bronze Award Winner by the national Ducks Unlimited organization. Chapter awards are given based on growth and attainment of event and fundraising goals each year.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the volunteers, sponsors and attendees at our 2007 Dinner Banquet. Without their contributions of time and talent, we would not have been able to achieve this prestigious award. It is truly the overwhelming generosity and caring spirit of the community that enables us to continue as a successful organization. Thank YOU!

Visit the Illinois DU website to see a list of all 2007 chapter award winners.
